EXERCISE 2-  BOX MAKING SLIDES

PROJECT 1 - SLIDES

PROJECT 2

RESEARCH

I gathered a few reference images for the style direction, layout and colour palette and Christie gathered for the typography. This will then be discussed with the group to move forward to sketches.

PROGRESS

Characterizing jackfruits and tater tots

  • Combination of both = Jackries
  • Merged & United <3
  • Friendship = Kawan Food's brand image
I sketched the characters in Procreate and digitalized them later in Adobe Illustrator.

Final Illustrations

Layout Experiment 1

After I created the Illustrations, I wanted to play around with the front layout with a temporary Typeface (while I wait for my other groupmate, Christie to create the title typeface).

Layout Experiment 2
My groupmates Adriel & Christie, created their version below after the typeface was refined by Christie and the layout was refined by Adriel. While working on this, we were waiting on the back information layout from Clay.

Layout Experiment 3
I worked on a third layout changing the primary colours to a more vibrant palette to represent Kawan food more and rearranging the elements on the front. I limited the amount of graphics on the layout to avoid it looking crowded and stuffy. The back layout from Clay was not ready yet, so it is still in the refinement stage.

Back Layout Experiment 4

My groupmates created the back layout with directions, ingredients and descriptions with white backgrounds and brand info

Final Layout

I changed the reference illustration of the tater tots in the front layout because Mr Shamsul mentioned that it looked a bit like poop (HAHA) and I see it. so in order to avoid it looking like it's laying on the ground, I let it float in a circular frame instead.

The frame can also be switched out for a transparent window for product view but because we did not receive an image from the food science group, the illustration can be there as a filler.

For the back layout, I toned down the white background in order for it to blend in more with the colour palette. I also switched the nutrition label and information to the right instead and refined some alignment so it wouldn't look too stuffy on the left.

FEEDBACK

Week 9: Pink background and elements make it look like it's for.. couple products D::

Week 10: Mr Shamsul mentioned fixing some minor alignments and preparing the slides

Week 11: Kawan food - The illustrations are cute! Shows the friendship between the jackfruit and the tater tot which represents Kawan food's brand image. Style fits the retro theme presented. The Colour is vibrant and attractive for the target audience.

FINAL REFLECTION

I got to try a lot of hands-on crafts for this module at the start which i really enjoyed. I learned more about the correct steps and process of creating an appropriate packaging design which will be useful in the future. While working on the final 2 projects though I faced a few difficulties with my groupmates as they had communication issues and it was hard to get through them to keep up on progress, so I felt like it was a bit rushed towards the end as i was trying to meet the deadline. In different circumstances, I wished that I could properly work on the final 2 projects better. Nonetheless, I'm proud to have finished the final design AND submitted it within the deadline and that KawanFood liked the final design! :)
