Assignment 2:

Assignment 2: flipbook link

Assignment 3:

FEEDBACK

Week 2:  Categorise types of CVD under background (5.1) and define good or poor GUIs. Answer RQ1 by recapping the experience of CVD users (can refer to questionnaire answers. Sub-themes such as navigating through colour-coded information without inclusive design (underlined links, symbols and icons etc.) can be mentioned to answer RQ3.  Resources for implementing inclusive design can be written after answering RQ3. The importance of external support can answer RQ1. My next course of action will be to write my 5.1 Background to be shown next week in week 3

Week 3: Dr Jinchi advised to use the word "figure" to label and describe images. The jump from 5.1.1 to 5.1.2 was too sudden; Recap the numbers and stats while stating the importance of accesible design before starting 5.1.2. Next course of action is to work on 5.2

Week 4: Try reorganizing 5.2 to combine it with the initial 5.3. Reword 5.2 introductions to better explains the flow of 5.2. The next course of action is to finish 5.2 by next week and check the flow

Week 5: Edit and tweak some of the phrases in 5.2 and label the images properly with descriptions so that readers can better understand. Start working on 5.3 for the next course of action. No need to write too much for 5.3 as there's not much to touch on and relate to the problem statement

Week 6: - Rearrange conclusion order. Elaborate on how assistive tools make users with CVD confident. State that further solutions may require a more technical approach outside of design. The abstract page number and table of content page number should be in roman numerals. The introduction onwards starts with number 1 Arabic. State in the methodology section that survey screenshots will be attached in appendices

Week 8: Ms advised me to edit a few sections in the background and analysis part of the dissertations. Mainly to make sure to include and mention quantitative results throughout the paper.

Week 10: Slides explaining the concepts weren't detailed enough as i missed out on typography options. Dr jinchi said I could combine my 2 concepts into one and try different layouts and colour schemes. I should also provide a layout example for the sections by next week as well as a chosen typeface.

Week 11: Ms advises to further elaborate if I'm using quotes of numbered data to cite the respondents in my paper. As for the ebook, Ms said she likes the minimal-type-focused layout with the pop of colour and graphics throughout the pages. next course of action is to add in the information and implement the same style

FINAL REFLECTION

This semester with this module was less hectic than i initially thought. Maybe it was because i feel like i had a harder time during Research Methodology. I also felt like most of the workload for the dissertation was already done during DRM. For this module, we had to finalise the dissertation and produce a flip book and research article from it. I got good feedbacks from Dr Jinchi which allowed me to progress with more ease. She helped me step out of times where i felt like i had little to no progress and motivated me to continue instead of penalising me for it. Writing is a difficult process for me since i don't often do it so it was nice to have an understanding lecturer who knew the strength and weakness of each student and could guide them based on each of their differences.

Designing the flip book was my favourite part of this module even though I'm not fond of publication design. I wish i had more time to improve on the design part of it but it was nice to see the finished dissertation at the end made into a book.

I learned a lot during this module as it allowed me to think and research on real life issues faced by those around me. This allowed me to shape my perspective on design and being a designer. Learning how to build and write a dissertation was also useful as it made me train my critical thinking skills while improving on my writing skills. I got a great sense of relief after I was done with my paper and felt content looking back at my work as i never thought it was something i was capable of doing and completing. I will be honest, when i first started at Taylor's and was told that I had to write a dissertation paper I was a little terrified and was dreading it as the day came closer. But now when i look back, I'm glad i did it because it was a good experience and i got to learn from the mistakes i made . There are a few things i look back at now and wished i had done better if i was given a different position but all i can do with that is carry it forward and learn to allow me to improve later on in the future.
